Weekly Update - February 24 - March 1

Welcome to the Weekly Update – February 24 – March 1.  Celebrity news continues to outweigh casting announcements, but I’m sure that will not last.  Divorce isn’t the happiest news to share, so I’m hoping for a quieter celebrity news week next time.  And military news has been quiet, although we have a couple enlistments coming up soon.  I hope you had a great week.  Until next time, enjoy your kdrama and ramen!

NOMAD

No Pressure

Rookie group NOMAD is hoping to withstand the hardships in their title track “No Pressure”.  This smooth, mid-tempo track uses flavors of hip-hop and R&B to give the song a bouncy, yet understated rhythm.  Minimalistic, stripped down instrumentation gives the listener a chance to get to know the group members and their unique voices.  The MV also aims for a simplistic approach that shows the group performing their unhurried choreography.

NCT WISH

WISH

NCT’s newest sub-unit, NCT WISH, debut’s this week with a brand new story.  The new single “WISH” has been eagerly anticipated by fans of the franchise.  This mid-tempo dance pop track leans heavily into old-school hip-hop to create a nostalgic sound, with just enough current trends to make it  relevant in today’s market. WISH mixes shouty, confident rap with more emotional, melodic moments.  The MV, available in both Japanese and Korean versions, features the group as Cupids who go around spreading love.

BOBBY (ft. Chanmina)

harmless

iKON’s BOBBY wants everyone to pipe down in his title track “harmless” from the singers 3rd full length album.  Getting support from Japanese rapper Chanmina,  this hard-core hip-hop track uses driving elctro-beats and aggressive rapped lyrics.  BOBBY’s unique style and attitude come out clearly in the new song.  The MV shows the singer in a white suit, flanked by an army of clones performing some weightless choreography.

TAEYONG

TAP

NCT leader TAEYONG is saving his energy in his new solo single “TAP”.  This ecclectic hip-hop track pulls in a variety of genre while the singer charms with some interesting  and playful vocals.  The percussion pops and percolates in the background while the rap vocals highlight the singers rich timbre and rhythmic musicality.  The MV shows the singer exploring Japan after unexplainably waking up in closet in a traditional Japanese Inn.

CRAVITY

Love or Die

CRAVITY can’t stop this feeling on their new title song “Love or Die”.  This high-energy pop rock track keeps the tempo moving whether its focused on the melodies or the rapid-fire rapping.  Rock infused guitar meets high percussion to unleash a rush of full adrenaline.  The MV shows the band as they travel on a journey to find their loved one.

from20

Demon

from20 is falling in love in his new single “Demon”.  This funky pop track has a great groovy rhythm and sultry vocals that glide smoothly along the melodies. The singer playfully slides from this deep, sexy tone to airy falsetto that gives the song nice movement.  The MV shows the singer seducing a beautiful woman with his charming magnetism.

RESCENE

YoYo

Rookie girl group RESCENE are going up and down in their new pre-debut single “YoYo””.  This soft pop track has heavy LOONA vibes as the group uses atmospheric synth and lots of vocal layering to create a rich and textured sound.  The vocals are lilting and unhurried, giving each member of the new group a chance to shine.  The MV shows the group dressed in white as they perform against a snowy landscape or an open tent.
