My Personal Thoughts and Ratings
‘Tempest’ is an exciting political spy thriller. These kinds of espionage style dramas are much less common than most other genres, which always make them a fun watch. The story is complex and unpredicatable. Jun Ji Hyun is great as the gutsy and graceful diplomat. And the leads have a sizzling chemistry.
For some, the mix of thriller and romance may feel uneven with fans wishing they had chosen one or the other. These kinds of dramas that dive into the dark and elite world of the political arena can often feel unrealistic. The drama does lose a bit of momentum in the second half. But I enjoyed the strong female characters and complex political stories. I give ‘Tempest’ an 9 out of 10 ramen.
