A grieving crown prince meets a spunky merchant who looks exactly like his deceased wife. Although her presence is a sad reminder of all he has lost, he can’t help but be drawn to her. And when she takes a job working in the palace, their lives become increasingly intertwined by a fate that trascends our human realm. But they are shocked when that connection cause them to swap bodies. Now they will need to stay close together until they can figure out how to return to their own lives in their own bodies.

‘Moon River’ is a historical body-swap drama. That fantasy element gave the drama a unique touch and a fair dose of comic relief. The leads have great chemistry and the pace stays fairly consistent without dragging too much in the middle. The sets and costuming are beautifully filmed and there are some great supporting actors. 

But the body swapping comes out of nowhere halfway through the series, which felt too late. It felt very confusing at times and the way the conversations are directed actually made it more confusing than it needed to be. The rules for the swap were murky at times, and felt too random. But the story is interesting and I enjoyed the playful relationship of the leads.  I give ‘Moon River’ an 8 out of 10 ramen.

Kang Tae Oh is a singer and actor. He was the lead vocalist for the group 5URPRISE before turning his focus to acting. He debuted as a guest actor in the 2011 romantic drama ‘A Clinic for Married Couples: Love and War 2’ before landing his first lead role in the 2013 fantasy drama ‘After School: Lucky or Not’. Other popular dramas he has starred in include the 2020 romantic drama ‘Run On’ and the 2019 historical rom-com ‘The Tale of Nokdu’.  Look for him to star in the highly anticipated upcoming sequel to the legal drama series ‘Extraordinary Woo’.

Kim Se Jeong started her career as a pop star, finishing second in the reality survival show ‘Produce 101’ before becoming a member of the pop group IOI and later Gugudan.  Her television debut came in 2016 with a guest role in the sitcom ‘The Sound of Your Heart’.  Her first starring role was in the popular rom-com series ‘School 2017’. Some of her more popular dramas include the 2022 Netflix rom-com ‘Business Proposal’ and the 2019 musical rom-com ‘I Wanna Hear Your Song’.
