Welcome to the Weekly Update – June 26 – July 2. This week was packed with new music and casting news. Lots to be excited about! Casting News
Kim Bum and Son Naeun
Kim Bum and Apink’s Son Naeun both confirmed this week that they will be joining Rain in the upcoming fantasy medical drama “Ghost Doctor”. When a genius surgeon with a dynamic personality combines his mind and spirit with a rich, spoiled resident, chaos ensues. Son Naeun will play an emergency room intern who believes in the supernatural.
Kim Doyeon
Weki Meki’s Kim Doyeon joins fellow idol THE BOYZ’s Younghoon in the upcoming romantic comedy “One the Woman”. Both idols will be playing younger versions of the stars in the drama about a prosecutor who loses her memory and assumes the identity of her doppleganger.
Son Ye Jin
Son Ye Jin has confirmed her next project as the star of an upcoming romantic drama “39”. Following the lives of three best friends as they reevaluate love and life now that they are about to turn 40, Son Ye Jin plays a wealthy dermatologist. The other starring roles have not been cast yet, but the 12 episode drama will begin filming in August.
Bona
WJSN’s Bona has announced that she will be starring in the upcoming drama “Twenty-Five Twenty-One”. The romantic drama tells story of a young couple and their 23 year long off again-on again romance. Bona will play an athlete hoping to go to the Olympics in fencing. “Twenty-Five Twenty-One is scheduled to air this winter.
Lee Yo Won, Chu Ja Hyun, and Jang Hye Jin
Lee Yo Won, Chu Ja Hyun, and Jang Hye Jin have been confirmed to star in the new life drama “Green Mothers Club”. The upcoming drama tells the story of a group of mothers at an elementary school who are thrown together as they live through the ups and downs of motherhood. “Green Mothers Club” is expected to air early in 2022.
Kim Hee Sun
Kim Hee Sun is confirmed to star in the upcoming fantasy drama “Tomorrow”. The drama, based on a webtoon by the same name, tells the story of a team of grim reapers who work to try to save people from commiting suicide. The other starring roles have not been confirmed yet. “Tomorrow is scheduled to premiere in the first half of 2022.

Just B
Damage
Just Be is making a run for it in their debut MV “Damage”. The 6 members of the new group competed on the reality shows “I-LAND” and “Under 19”, and before being picked up by Bluedot Entertainment. Going for a fun dance pop sound,with some EDM bass and synths to make it crunch, the song shows off some major swag while still highlighting their strong vocals. Fans are already calling for them to be named Rookie of the Year.
BDC
Moonlight
BDC serenades us in their amazing third installment of their Intersection triology, “Moonlight”. Their twinkly snyth sound accompanied by airy vocals gets it’s inspiration from a retro 80’s vibe that still manages to sound fresh. Even the fashion takes a page right out of early 80’s trends, with a modern twist that makes those soft pastels look right at home.
SHINee
SUPERSTAR
SHINee released a new MV for the Japanese single “SUPERSTAR”. With a sound that reminds us all of what we have always loved about them, SHINee gives a funky performance full of brass and bright rhythms. The MV has the guys hanging out at home and dancing from room to room before moving the dance party to the driveway. The bright energy is a perfect fit for your sunny summer mood.
Brave Girls (ft. E-Chan)
Pool Party
Brave Girls continue their bid for “Summer Queen” with a nightlife celebration in “Pool Party”. The dance track is upbeat and full of energy with rhythmic percussion to drive the beat along. The MV shows the band dancing in the retro neon-lit backdrops of a roller rink, an arcade, and a bowling alley.
LOONA
PTT (Paint the Town)
LOONA has all 12 band members back for the first time since 2019, and they are ready to take on the world in their new title track “Paint the Town”. Blending traditional Bollywood with trap and dubstep, the use of giant drums and Indian flute give the song a unique sound that is interesting and well-executed.
NCT Dream
Hello Future
NCT Dream chose the 70’s vibe for their new MV “Hello Future”. The track comes out swinging, with strong rap and percussion before settling into a more melodic chorus that reminds us of the amazing vocal talent in this young sub-unit. Complete with a VW bus, lots of tie-dye and flowers, the MV celebrates hippy love and peace.
2PM
Make It
After an almost 5 year hiatus, 2PM is finally back with their much anticipated title track “Make It”. The mid-tempo groove shows the band’s smooth vocals and new-found maturity. The MV is about fighting for a second chance at love, while each band member uses their own particular brand of charm to woo their love back to them.
Han Seung Woo
See You Again
Victon’s Han Seung woo shows us his sensitive side with his solo release “See You Again”. The melancholy love ballad serves as a temporary goodbye to fans before he heads off to serve his military service on July 26th. Han Seung Woo gives a beautiful, heartfelt performance, accompanied by subtle piano. The good news for fans is that the song title doesn’t focus on the goodbye portion, but on the promise that he will be back and see us all again.
Stray Kids
MIXTAPE: OH
After an amazing run on the reality show “Kingdom”, Stray Kids are back with their mixtape album and the first single “MIXTAPE: OH”. They also have much to celebrate with the return of Hyunjin, who is back after a four month hiatus due to a bullying accusation. This mid-tempo pop track uses EDM drops to create a diverse style that is entirely Stray Kids.

Doom at your Service
“Doom at your Service” aired it’s finale on June 29th. The fantasy drama tells the story of a woman who finds out she only has 100 days to live. In her anger and frustration, she curses the world, but she is shocked when a heavenly messanger named Doom appears and offers to make her wish come true.
Mine
The Netflix mystery drama “Mine” ended it’s series on June 27th. “Mine” is the story of two strong minded women who marry into the same wealthy family. Each of them must fight their own battle to earn the respect that they deserve without giving into the expectations of the world around them.
