Welcome to the Weekly Update – August 19 – 25. A couple new dramas started this week and the finale for “Not Others” finished on a high note. Just a couple single casting announcements this week. Casting News
Jung Kyung Ho
Jung Kyung Ho will star in the upcoming legal drama “Labor Attorney Noh Moo Jin”. Information on this drama is still limited but it will be written by the same writer as the popular military drama “D.P.” and will revolve around the life and career of a labor attorney. “Labor Attorney Noh Moo Jin” hasn’t scheduled their premiere date yet but filming will begin early next year.
Lee Jung Ha
Lee Jung Ha will star in the upcoming action drama “One: High School Heroes”. Based on the 2020 webtoon “ONE”, the story revolves around a model student who sets aside his studies to help victims take revenge of those who have bullied them. “One: High School Heroes” has already finished filming but the premiere date is yet to be announced.

Shim Hyung Tak
Actor Shm Hyung Tak shared beautiful wedding pictures of him and his Japanese wife Hirae Saya. The couple had a wedding on August 20th in Japan before having their second ceremony in Korea. Hirae Saya was a model before branching out into acting in Japanese dramas. Shim Hyung Tak met her 4 years ago while he was in Japan filming a television show there. We wish the new couple many happy years together!

Memories
New SM group RIIZE have put their heart and sould into their pre-release single “Memories”. This is SM’s first non-NCT boy group in years, although it does include 2 former NCT members. The upbeat track features a lively pop chorus and hip-hop heavy verses. The vocals are emotional and melodic, with enough layered texture to hint at the talent still to be explored from the new group. The MV shows the members exloring the world by train as they move from location to location together.
VANNER
PERFORMER
“Peak Time” show winners VANNER are giving a holler in their new single “PERFORMER”. This funky dance pop track is has groovy bass and synth sounds with some nice melodic vocals. The song uses punk and electronic sounds to give a cool, upbeat energy. The MV focus on choreography while dancing in front of several cool backdrops.
AKMU
Love Lee
AKMU calls on cupid for help in their new single “Love Lee”. This funky pop track relies on rhythmic percussion and the quirky vocals that have given this sibling duo a name. The beat is lurching and and snappy. The playful MV shows dancing and singing outside the Cupid Gift Shop.
SEVENTEEN
Ima
SEVENTEEN gives it all for their last dance in their new Japanese single “Ima – Even if the World Ends Tomorrow”. This bright rock track uses strong electric guitar and sizzling synths to give off a breezy, cheerful vibe. The lyrics encourage listeners to embrace the present and not let the stress and worries of the future ruin the joys of now. The MV is has an apocolyptic theme as the band tries to get to safety in the midst of world disaster.

HOMEBOY
xikers prove they are a different kind in their new single “HOMEBOY”. This pop hip-hop track is full of high energy and dramatic synth beats. The vocals are highly modulated and distorted. The MV relies on the youthful charm that the group has capitalized on from their debut, as they spend time playfully enjoying a lazy summer day together.
iKON
PANORAMA
iKON is living their own drama in their new single “PANORAMA”. This mid-tempo pop track beams with hopefully energy and upbeat lyrics. The percussion keeps a fun beat and is supported by a cute whistling rhythm. The MV shows couples who started out as young lovers in high school before transitioning into the challenges that many relationships face in the difficult world of working adulthood.

The romantic comedy “Not Others” aired its finale on August 22nd. A mother and her grown daughter navigate the pitfalls of living together as they both work full time jobs and pursue new romantic relationships. While they often bicker and argue, they both understand that they need to learn to approach their relationship differently now that they are both adults.
My Lovely Boxer
The sports drama “My Lovely Boxer” premiered on August 21st. A young woman began a promising career as a boxer at the age of 17. But after competing undeated and rising in popularity, she suddenly disappeared from the world of boxing with no explanation. Now a promising young baseball pitcher sets out to bring her back to the sport, but it won’t be easy to convince her to begin competing again.
Destined With You
The new Netflix legal fantasy drama “Destined With You” started on August 23rd. A lawyer who is plagued by a curse that has existed in his family for countless generations meets a beautiful civil servant who is the owner of a mysterious chest that just may hold the key to his freedom. Now he hopes that she will be willing to help him break free of the disease he has lived in fear of his whole life.
