“Now, We Are Breaking Up” is a romantic drama revolving around the fashion industry.  The story is meant to show the ups and downs of love and relationships.  If you like heavy, modern love stories that focus on angst and troubled relationships, this might be an interesting watch.  But, for me, I felt like the drama really wanted to be poignant and full of feeling, but the characters lacked the development to pull it off.  Although the cast brings some big names, I found both the stories and characters to lack any relatable, emotional depth.   I give “Now, We Are Breaking Up” an 6 out of 10 ramen.

“Ghost Doctor” is a  light medical comedy.  While it does contain a bit of romance, it’s the bromance that really gives this one its flavor.  There are some surgery scenes, so if blood and medical procedures aren’t your thing, there may be a few uncomfortable moments, although it never seemed excessive. The definition of a “coma ghost”  gave the story a fun, original concept that allowed for plenty of interesting medical moments and some beautiful life lessons about empathy and humility.  Rain and Kim Bum were fantastic together and their chemistry made this one a pleasure to watch.   I give “Ghost Doctor” an 10 out of 10 ramen.

“Bulgasal” is a  fantasy thriller that tells the story of a bulgasal, which is basically a vampire on steroids.  If you enjoy fantasy monster stories, this one is interesting and has a unique story.  One word of warning.  If you are squimish about blood and gore, this one may be a bit much for you, since bulgasal live on human blood and flesh.  My major criticism with this one is that it was very inconsistant in its pace.  What started as exciting thriller turned into slow-paced romance and “family” drama.  But the music and cinematography are beautiful and the story keeps you guessing until the end.  I give “Bulgasal” an 8 out of 10 ramen.

“Bad and Crazy” is a  wild crime comedy with a unique plot and plenty of thrilling action. It covers a wide range of genre and even touches on some more emotional scenes surrounding mental health and self discovery. The bromance between Lee Dong Wook and Wi Ha Joon was entertaining, and they never pushed it so hard that it got old.  This drama is fast-paced and entertaining, but that pace does leave it open to some loose plots and disjointed storylines.  On the plus side, if you want an exciting police drama with plenty of humor and a touch of romance, this one is definitely worth your time.  I give “Bad and Crazy” an 8 out of 10 ramen.

“The King’s Affection” is a light historical romance.  If you like historical dramas that focus more on romance than political intrigue and serious drama, this is a good option.  At 20 episodes, I did find that while it started strong, it dragged a bit in the middle.  The “gender bender” premise provides some sweet and comical interactions that are entertaining to watch.  The cinematography is visually beautiful and the stirring OST features some great artists, including the male lead, Rowoon of SF9.   I give “The King’s Affection” an 8 out of 10 ramen.

“Mad For Each Other” is a healing romantic comedy.  It takes an honest look at mental health issues like PTSD, anxiety, and anger,  and the struggles that many face, while adding a note of humor to keep the series from getting too heavy or serious.  This drama is shorter than the average, with 13 35-minute episodes, so it’s great if you are looking for a faster, binge-worthy series.  And surprisingly, each 35 minutes is so packed with storyline that it feels more like a full hour episode.   If you enjoy quirky rom-coms that tackle serious issues while maintaining a  light-hearted tone, this little gem is surprisingly touching and sweet. I give “Mad For Each Other” an 8 out of 10 ramen.
