Plot Summary for 'Melo Movie'
When Movie Meets Reality
A life-long movie enthusiast has worked his way up from acting extra to jaded film critic. When he is reunited with a young director he had a brief relationship with five years ago, he gets an opportunity to finally explain to her why he was forced to disappear before without a word. But each of them carry their own scars of love, lonliness, and abandonment. Now they will be left to decide if they can forgive the mistakes of their pasts and rekindle their relationship.
My Thoughts on 'Melo Movie'
My Personal Insights and Rating
‘Melo Movie’ is another emotionally intense, slow-burn romance drama. There are some giggles along the way. The characters are realistically flawed and complex and the themes of childhood fears, trauma and struggling artists are relatable. The dialogues are well written and natural and the cast does a wonderful job of delivering them with just the right touch of emotional weight. Also, Kim Jae Wook fans will not want to miss his outstanding performance as the lead’s older brother!
But this drama is not the light-hearted rom-com that some may assume at first glance. For some the pace will seem too slow and heavily based on dialogue rather than action. While the love story is at the center of this plot, the drama is more about the story of these characters, through their pains and disappointments, finding healing. I give ‘Melo Movie’ a 9 out of 10 ramen.
