The Story

A wealthy son of a major food corporation runs his own restaurant in Seoul, where he is looking for the perfect unique recipe to earn the coveted Michelin 3 star rating. But when he learns that a small restaurant outside of the city is serving a similar dish, he plans to buy them out and steal the recipe as his own. But his efforts are challenged when the beautiful young chef makes it clear that she isn’t interested in greedy corporate executives or their hollow profits.

“You money-hungry people think you can make food and sell it? You have no idea how much value there is in the work, care, and sincerity behind it.”

Meeting the stars: Kang Ha Neul and Go Min Si

Kang Ha Neul as Han Beom U

Han Beom U is the executive director of Hansang foods.  He is also the founder’s younger son. His mother has promised to leave the business to the first son who can get a 3-star Michelin rating for their restaurant. Beom U has made a career of buying out small restaurants and stealing their recipes.

But when he sets his sights on Jeongje, a small restaurant outside of the city, he underestimates the stubbornness of the restaurant’s talented chef.  And just as Beom U begins to learn the true beauty of great food prepared from the heart, his mother, Chairman Han, threatens to destroy Jeongje and anyone associated with it. And he will have to step in to try to protect the restaurant and the people he has come to care about.

Han Beom U is greedy and determined to win both the family company and his mother’s approval. But over the course of the show, he learns that the best foods come from the heart. Kang Ha Neul is always a great lead. He handles this role with his usual competent charm, although I didn’t always like his character very much.

Go Min Si as Mo Yeon Ju

Mo Yeon Ju grew up as an orphan in a buddhist temple before going away to Paris to study cooking. After a short and painful stint in Sapporo working and improving her skills, she returns to Korea and buys an old restaurant in the countryside named Jeongje.

Although Jeongje lacks any proper advertisement, Yeon Ju’s amazing cooking speaks for itself. And word of mouth eventually reaches Beom U, an executive director for Hansang Foods, who would love to turn Yeon Ju’s talent into a profit. And the future of her restaurant and her budding relationship with Beom U will come down to a “heated” cook-off  between Jeongje and Beom U’s former restaurant, now being run by his brother, Seon U.

Yeon Ju is passionate about cooking authentic meals from premium, natural ingredients.  But sadly, her stance from the beginning never really grows or develops.  I think Go Min Si is very talented, but this character didn’t give her much chance to stand out. She played the part she was given, but it all felt kind of flat.

Supporting characters

Kim Shin Rok as Jin Myeong Suk

Jin Myeong Suk is a star cook at a neighboring gimbap restaurant. After devoting years of her skills without being properly appreciated, Myeong Suk shows up at Jeongje and begs Yeon Ju to let her work there. And Myeong Suk’s experience in cooking traditional Korean fare adds a new dimension to Jeonje’s menu.

Yoo Soo Bin as Sin Chun Seung

Sin Chun Seong is the son of the owner of the gimbap restaurant Myeong Suk used to work at.  After accidentally causing a fire at Jeongje, Chun Seong shows up to help repair the restaurant and ends up staying to help them run it.

Bae Na Ra as Han Seon U

Han Seon U is Beom U’s older brother. He runs La Lecel, a gourmet restaurant that he hopes can get a 3-star rating before Beom U, so he can take over Hansang Foods.

A Comprehensive Look at Tastefully Yours 2025

3 things i loved about ‘Tastefully yours’

1.

Food as Medicine:

This drama was at it’s best when it focused on the way food can bring people together. From our rag-tag restaurant crew to guests like the pre-wedding party, we see food warm the soul and build bridges. And although Beom U’s mom is a particularly tough case, making her sit down to a meal with her sons at the end was a nice touch.

2.

Brothers:

Beom U and Seon U’s mom did quite a number on them. Rather than a medicine, she weaponized food and food preparation to drive a wedge between the brothers. So I was thrilled to see that in the end, they moved beyond her ill intentions, and began taking steps to rebuild their relationship.

3.

Weak Hero Crossover:

With all of the overlap, how could they not sneak some kind of reference to ‘Weak Hero’. And the fact that they kept it subtle made it all the more fun. For those who didn’t see ‘Weak Hero’,  the reference is to Chun Seung’s line to Myeong Suk’s favorite actor, “Where did you go to high school?” The dramas share 3 cast members in common.

3 things i didn’t love about ‘Tastefully Yours’

1.

Ex and Sapporo:

I have no idea what they were thinking to throw this pointless sideplot into an already very short drama. The Japan trip and the ex-boyfriend it introduces have no real purpose on the overall plot and feels like a total waste of screen time. This time would have been better spent focusing on Yeon Ju herself instead of her pointless past.

2.

Yeon Ju’s Choices:

Not only does Yeon Ju’s character lack any depth, in my opinion, but her decisons often feel inconsistent and non-sensical. The lengths she goes to to protect her ex-boyfriend make no sense to me, her conceding the cook-off victory felt strangely anti-climatic, and her instant forgiveness of Beom U’s lies seemed premature.

3.

Beom U’s Future:

For me, the family business always seemed to bring out the worst in Beom U.  His scars are evident and he never seems to find any joy in it.  So I was hoping that Beom U would finally get his chance to break away and pursue a career he is passionate about, while staying by Yeon Ju’s side to help.  There are mentions of him studying architecture in college. I wish they had revived that interest and given him a fresh, new start.

The Conclusion of 'Tastefully Yours'

The Ending

\’Tastefully Yours” gives us the nice, happy ending that fits the drama’s easy-going style. And what would a cooking drama be without a final cook-off? After La Lecel and Jeongje both recieve 3 stars, Chairman Han suggests a televised contest, because, of course, there can really only be one best restaurant in Korea.

Minus Yeon Ju for the time being, Beom U is able to get the rest of the crew back together. And Myeong Suk finally gets her chance to shine, combining Yeon Ju’s recipes with her own special touch. Yeon Ju finally comes back and forgives Beom U. And even though the results are rigged by Chairman Han, Yeon Ju admits defeat, and Beom U’s mom decides to let her keep running her restaurant anyway, now that she has been declared the winner.

In the end, Jeongje lives on, with Myeong Suk now an official main chef. Chun Seung finally gets his dad’s approval and takes over their family restaurant, with his own touches, of course. Chairman Han continues to spin the media to her advantage. Yeong Hye has left gourmet dining to open her own food truck. And Beom U and Seon U have taken some small steps to restore their relationship.

And our lead couple? The final scene shows Yeon Ju and Beom U, back in the garden where they first met as Yeon Ju tells him that she decided to forgive him “because she likes him”. He says he loves her and the couple share a kiss.

My Personal Thoughts and Ratings

‘Tastefully Yours’ is a short rom-com about love and food. This is another drama that focuses on the healing powers of cooking. Kang Ha Neul gives a great performance and the supporting cast do a wonderful job. The friendships of the kitchen crew are almost more rewarding than the actual romance. The story is simple, with some nice emotional side plots

Unfortunately, I didn’t find the writing for this drama very strong. There is an absolutely pointless side plot in the middle that wastes too much valuable time. And because of this, we lose some of the time that could have been devoted to character development.  In the end, the drama just left me a bit underwhelmed. But Kang Ha Neul is always a delight and if you’re looking for a short, simple rom-com, this one isn’t bad. I give ‘Tastefully Yours’ an 7 out of 10.
