Welcome to the Weekly Update – March 11 – 17. It’s a slow week for new dramas, especially if you aren’t a fan of the extended family shows. Casting News
Park Hyung Sik, Park Shin Hye, Yoon Park, and Gong Sung Ha
Park Hyung Sik and Park Shin Hye will be reuniting to star in the upcoming medical romantic comedy “Doctor Slump”. The pair first worked together 10 years ago on the romantic drama “Heirs”. The couple will be joined by Yoon Bak and Gong Sung Ha. Two doctors who begin as rivals become friends after they both fall into a life slump. “Doctor Slump” will air some time in October of this year.
Lee Jun Young
Lee Jun Young will be joining IU and Park Bo Gum in the upcoming romantic drama “You Have Done Well”. No specifics have been released about Lee Jun Young’s supporting role, but the story follows a young couple born on Jeju Island in the 1950’s, as they grow into adulthood. “You Have Done Well” will start production soon and is expected to air sometime later this year.

Young, Dumb, Stupid
NMIXX is making their way in their new pre-release single “Young, Dumb, Stupid”. This cute and bubbly pop track is anchored in a sampling of the nursery rhyme “Frere Jacques”. The MV is done in tones of pink and purple, as the group receives a pair of magic glasses that take them to a brand new world.
KAI
Rover
EXO’s KAI wants freedom in his new single “Rover”. This pop dance track uses heavy Reggaeton influences to give the song an exotic flavor. The pleasing thump of the bass makes a great contrast to trilling woodwinds and twinkling synth. The MV focuses on KAI as a performer and dancer, as the singer goes through a multitude of style and location changes.

Smoke Sprite
So!YoON! gets low with some help from BTS’ RM in her new single “Smoke Sprite”. This emotional and gritty alt rock track has a lo-fi style that features distorted guitar. The song starts calm and quiet before building to a fevered pitch. The MV shows the singers in some distorted reality that mixes real life with a strange dream state.

NEW DAYZ
TRENDZ is falling in their new single “NEW DAYZ”. This pop rock track bops along with a groovy beat and stripped back music that allows the energetic vocals to carry the weight of the melody. The lyrics are about waiting for new hope after going through a difficult time. The MV shows the band standing up to a group of bullies and finally gaining freedom from the fear they have caused.

If I Were the Wind
Golden Child’s Y gets by on warm memories in his new solo single “If I Were the Wind”. This beautiful ballad is the singer’s emotional farewell to fans before his military enlistment next week. The quiet piano and soaring strings express the heartfelt sentiments of the emotional song. Fittingly, the MV shows the singer sitting down to write a goodbye letter to someone he loves.

Set Me Free Pt. 2
BTS’ Jimin is standing on the edge in his new pre-release single “Set Me Free Pt. 2”. This heavily distorted hip-hop track features a chilling backing done by a choir and fuzzy auto-tuned vocals to give it a hard-hitting punch. The MV plays with the themes of darkness and light and focuses on the singers amazing dance skills and unique choreography.

The 100 episode weekday family drama “Woman in a Veil” premiered on March 14th. A woman suffers extreme trauma after catching her husband cheating on her with one of her friends. The shock causes her to lose her eyesight and she decides to take revenge on the them for the pain they caused her.
