The Story
Fresh out of prison, Yoon Kyeo Re is involved in a car accident. In place of a cash settlement, he is offered community service at a hospice center. While working there, he meets the members of Team Genie; a group of volunteers who grant the final wishes of their terminally ill patients. For the first time in his life, Kyeo Re begins to understand what it is like to have a caring family and friends. As his role in the team grows, his life finally finds purpose. And as he settles into his new life, he finds some curious connections between the health care center and his own troubled past.
Should I Watch
“If You Wish Upon Me” is a life drama full of emotional and touching stories. This is another slow-paced drama that paints a beautiful picture of life and death. Obviously any series that takes place in a hospice center will have some heart-wrenching goodbyes. But at its heart, this isn’t so much a drama about death, but more about living with hope and dignity. This is not a fun, action-packed kind of show, but it is wonderfully told and does include some romance in its themes. I give “If You Wish Upon Me” a 9 out of 10 ramen.
